So, besides the ribbon scarf, I have not done much knitting lately. Instead, I have been trying out my rotary cutter (thanks, Tobes!) to make a quilted bedspread for M's daughter's new bed. Grandpa is making her a new log bedframe, so I thought she could use a cute cover. To the left is a sneak peek at the first square that I finished this morning. It's made from 100% cotton batik prints from JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts. The pattern is a variation of the "Toad in the Puddle" block, and I think the mossy greens and blues are perfect to make it look a bit like a pond. I got the pattern and the idea for the colors here.
M's daughter really, really wanted pink fabric to make an appearance in the project, but her mother warned me not to turn this into a nightmare Barbie quilt, so I will just make two small pink batik throw pillows in this same design.
I'm glad I finally have a chance to try out the sewing machine I got for Christmas. One block down, only 34 more to go!
